A strange iMessage bug that deletes the last word of some messages has been discovered by iPhone users, reports The Verge. There are two main phrases that are circulating online...

Attempting to send "I could be the next Obama" followed by a trailing space will result in Obama's name being hidden from the received message. Everything looks fine until you hit the "send" button, after which — on both screens — the final word vanishes and is replaced with blank space. ... "The best prize is a surprise" seems to be another phrase that triggers the phenomenon.

Interestingly, copying and pasting the message will reveal the missing word.

Users have been complaining about the issue for months and it seems to extend beyond these two examples. An Apple support thread from December detailed the problem but it appeared to be fixed with iOS 6.1 for some.

Apple hasn't commented on the issue yet.

This seems like a layout issue with the UILabels being used. I bet the layout code has a bug such that, for certain edge cases, the last word gets truncated. It's not big brother filtering your words. It's just a UI layout issue, I think.

I'm not surprised, say words like terrorist or explosives and they will file it with your name!!!

Yep this issue is verified, but I don't think ill be telling anyone I could be the next Obama anytime soon though lol

The bug is only discoverable for me when autocorrect is turned ON.

That's a bunch of bull cause I just tried and it worked all words were clear... Sent to like 15people and they sent the same thing

Same! Either it's fixed, on random phones, or on certain models :(
