Blake Krikorian, CEO of R2 Studios, a home automation startup, has left Amazon's board after being acquired by a rival company, reports the WSJ.

Amazon.com said director Blake Krikorian is resigning from its board after a stint of slightly more than a year, as the entrepreneur sells his current startup and moves on to a new position at the acquiring firm. Seattle-based Amazon disclosed Mr. Krikorian's departure in a regulatory filing on Friday. An Amazon spokesman said Mr. Krikorian opted to resign because he has sold his current firm "and is taking a position at the acquiring company."

Notably, Apple is said to have been in talks to acquire the company along with other big names such as Microsoft and Google. Krikorian founded Slingbox and sold it to EchoStar SATS in 2007. In May 2011 he founded R2 Studios to make advances in home automation; however, the company has been fairly secretive about its plans.

Amazon would not reveal who had acquired his company.
