It's unlikely that Apple will ever make this a reality but maybe some third party manufacturer will.

And what about the back that's so susceptible to scratches.... Product is just as stupid as the ipad smart covers. If u rest it on a rough surface device gets screwed. Drop it and ur also potentially screwed. Idiotic innovation

Why would we need this for the iPhone? Not much protection either. I live it for the iPad but kind of not too smart for the iPhone sorry.

true... the ONLY amazing thing about Microsoft's Surface is their smart cover with keyboard. The Surface itself is stupid.

bro, i watched when they announced Surface, and that thing crashed in the middle of the demo. enough said. as long as Microsoft is still stuck with a mindset of "transferring" desktop PC to tablet, i lose interest, thats why i see the keyboard as a sign that Windows is stuck with old technologies. no, i'm not Apple fan. i love Apple's products, i think their products are superior. at least for now. there's signs that Apple's products is fading, the lose their visionary Steve Jobs, and have no replacement. i see Samsung products are the only near competitor with Apple. but i see as long as Android is laggy, it means nothing. their hardware even is nice, but the software will cause bottleneck, and suppress the superiority of Samsung's products. although previously i would vote for Apple, but now i see that Apple is losing their shine. what i'm looking forward now is that Android will be a better, faster, less laggy, more reliable software. Samsung will own the smartphone world.

Either u are def or ignorant. Because u haven't herd that it was beta version of windows 8. And like apple they are not ripping u off making billion and donating just not even .001 % of their income which they made of same groups of people that need help.

i'm using Galaxy SII, with Android 4.0.3. The stupid thing on how Android handles crash is, i need to do a hard-reset to get the phone working again, because the phone is unresponsive. At least hard-reset works, so no need to pry open my battery. But for my iPad, usually the crash can easily be handled by using the Home button, go back to main screen, and easily kills the App.

The problem with this is that it doesn't offer much protection, and it would have to reach around both sides of the iPhone to stay closed. Now put it in your pocket and have the cover just slide right off exposing the screen to keys and other things.
