Apple's New 'Blue Sky' Program Gives Select Employees Two Weeks for Side Projects

A new program at Apple dubbed 'Blue Sky' gives select employees two weeks off to work on side projects, according to Jessica Lessin at the Wall Street Journal.

BusinessInsider reports that on today's News Hub video show, Lessin revealed a few details about the program that began earlier this year.

Although it sounds similar to Google's 20% time which lets employees spend 20% of their time on side projects which could help Google in future, Lessin cautioned that it's a "far cry" from what Google does. Apple's program is limited to a small group of employees at the company.

Additionally, she notes that it's further evidence that Apple's culture is changing under the leadership of CEO Tim Cook. Apple is becoming more like a traditional tech company and it's taking steps to try and keep employees around longer.
