Samsung Hits Apple With 20% Price Increase for Mobile Processors?

Samsung has reportedly raised the price of mobile processors being supplied to Apple by 20%, according to a Chosun Ilbo report relayed by MarketWatch.

"Samsung Electronics recently asked Apple for a significant price raise in (the mobile processor known as) application processor," the person was quoted as saying in the report. "Apple first disapproved it, but finding no replacement supplier, it accepted the (increase.)"

The report adds that Apple and Samsung have started to reflect the new supply price recently.

Samsung is said to have a long term contract to supply APs to Apple until 2014. Last year they supplied more than 200 million units and this year the volume is estimated to be 130 million.
