Apple may be prototyping a widescreen iPad that would deliver the same 16:9 aspect ratio as the new iPhone 5, reports the Examiner.

The following comments were made by Los Angeles industry analyst Paul Mueller:

"I have talked to at least three people close to Apple who say that there are new iPad prototypes that have a 16:9 aspect ratio. They aren't talking about the upcoming iPad mini either." Mueller says he will have more information in the next couple of weeks.

The Examiner also asked their source from Apple about the claim. He said, "I haven't really heard much about the iPad 4, but it appears that Apple is no longer against widescreen devices."

I said this i an earlier blog. It does not hurt. IBook has a top and bottom bands that contains navigation tools. These bands make up for the stretch screen so that contents of book would look naturally the same. A welcomed redesign. Other manufacturers will have a hard time catching up since Apple corners the world on dsiplay.

Keep in mind that iOS has the split keyboard feature on the iPad to address that specific issue.

terrible idea. very hard to type in landscape on the galaxy tab 10.1. middle letters like G and H are hard to reach with such a wide keyboard from 16:9 aspect. it was a carpal tunnel nightmare for me
