iFixit has performed a teardown of the new Apple EarPods.

After three years of research and development, Apple has released the newest version of their popular headphones, now dubbed "EarPods." Join us as we crack these pods open and take a look at what three years of R & D can accomplish.

Highlights:
● Model number of MD827LL/A
● Totally redesigned shape, main speaker port faces forward, rather than directly into your ear canal.
● The new remote design includes larger cable wrapping near the remote
● The new EarPods have a more sealed and secured control board
● The voice coil is supported by a composite diaphragm made of a paper cone and a polymer surround. Previously a plastic cone was used.

Take a look at a few images below or hit the link for the entire teardown.

believe me a paper cone sound way better than plastic cone. most cones in pro speaker drivers made from paper. but i see there is a crossover near the magnet .... thats passive crossover eats tons of power in result of audio quallity... also who knows what crossing points it has. possible a cut in lows(bass) or highs (treble). or maybe very lows like lower than 20 hz and higher than 20 khz.

It's a $30 midrange earphone. What the hell did you expect? Gold? 10 internal speakers? For what it is, they went above and beyond what any other manufacturer would do at this price range.

Don't look much to write home about, looks just like any other head phone. Pennies to make and it took them three years to think this up. Hope they sound better than they look.
