Stock of the 27-inch iMac is scarce ahead of a rumored update, according to two separate reports from AppleInsider and MacRumors.
AppleInsider notes that the low-end 2.7-gigahertz model is currently out of stock at Amazon, MacMall, MacConnection, Best Buy, and J&R. The high-end 3.1-gigahertz model is sold out at Best Buy and J&R and in limited supply at Amazon.
MacRumors performed a survey Apple retail stores and found that 120 out of the 249 U.S. locations are out of stock of the base model. 135 locations are out of stock of the high-end model.
A recent report from KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicted that Apple would launch a new 21.5-inch iMac in September and a new 27-inch iMac in October.
