Samsung Says It Will Immediately Sue Apple If They Release a LTE iPhone?

Samsung has reportedly confirmed that it will immediately sue Apple if it releases an LTE iPhone, according to the KoreaTimes.

The site says Samsung Chairman Lee Kun-hee was briefed on Tuesday about the company's loss to Apple in court. "The chairman calmed down and slightly closed his eyes after he was briefed. But he didn't say anything further," said an executive.

The company's lawyers are making preparations to counter nearly every patent issue which nine jurors found in favor of Apple. In addition they are already planning to sue Apple over its next generation iPhone.

Samsung confirmed that it will immediately sue Apple if the latter releases products using advanced long-term evolution (LTE) mobile technology. LTE has been emerging as the top standard in the global mobile industry.

This is all speculative garbage. There is no way Samsung can sue apple for using LTE technology. The technology is not owned by Samsung, so on what grounds would they have to sue Apple?

Yes, 12.2 % LTE patents are owned by Samsung and it's 3rd largest LTE patent owner. first one is nokia (18.9 %) and second is Qualcomm (12.5 %) and then Samsung (12.2 %).

Apple is already protected by Qualcomm who sell LTE chip to Apple and license to client for legal usage. Otherwise no one will buy because other patent holders will sue.

READ THE ARTICLE. According to Thomson-Reuters, Nokia ranked top with 18.9 percent in terms of the NUMBER OF LTE PATENTS, followed by Qualcomm with 12.5 percent, Samsung Electronics with 12.2 percent and Ericsson with 11.6 percent. I don't see Apple's name in there. Who keeps saying the Koreans don't know how to innovate?

All that matters is who owns patent. Samsung have many LTE patents and that's why they will sue Apple. Simple enough. Isn't Apple doing same to other companies.

Ans that's why Samsung will ask for royalty and damages caused by ipad 3. That's what Apple did in last case, they asked for royalty and damages from last 4-5 years.

How is apple putting LTE in their phone infringing on samsung? They already have it in their iPad and LTE is not a technology owned by Samsung.

True. They do not completely own LTE technology but they invented many LTE features and made sure they parented those. That's why they can sue Apple and ask for iphone ban.
