Apple CEO Tim Cook and Google CEO Larry Page in Talks on Patent Issues

Apple CEO Tim Cook and Google CEO Larry Page are reportedly in talks to resolve patent infringement disputes between the companies, according to Reuters.

The two CEOs reportedly had a phone conversation last week and lower-level officials are also in discussions. Cook and Page will are expected to talk again soon. A meeting was apparently schedule for this Friday but has been delayed for reasons unknown.

One possible scenario under consideration could be a truce involving disputes over basic features and functions in Google's Android mobile software, one source said. But it's unclear whether Page and Cook are discussing a broad settlement of the various disputes between the two companies - most of which involve the burgeoning mobile computing area - or are focused on a more limited set of issues.


Apple's decisive win over Samsung in court last week may make negotiations easier for the company going forward. A jury found Samsung owed Apple over $1 billion in damages for infringing on their designs and patents.
