Apple considered making a car or camera before the iPhone, said Phil Schiller, Apple's Senior VP of Worldwide Marketing during his trial testimony today.
New York Times report Nick Bilton tweets:
Phil Schiller on stand said before making the iPhone, there was discussion of Apple making a camera or a car -- "crazy stuff."
Although it sounds crazy, Mickey Drexler, CEO of J. Crew and board member at Apple, had already revealed that Steve Jobs wanted to design a car.
"Look at the car industry; it's a tragedy in America. Who is designing the cars?" Drexler said during Fast Company's Innovation Uncensored conference this week. "Steve's dream before he died was to design an iCar."
