The new Kindle Fire is said to have a metal frame with a plastic chassis. (Sounds like an iPhone 3G.) The original Kindle Fire was a clunky piece of hardware that was reportedly picked off a shelf. It looked exactly like the BlackBerry Playbook. Amazon's plan to release a redesigned Kindle Fire less than a year after the original makes sense. It has to protect its turf.
Google has just unveiled its rival to the Kindle Fire dubbed the Nexus 7 and the rumor mill has Apple releasing an iPad mini in October.
