Siri vs. Google Search: Voice Assistant Battle [Video]

Siri vs. Google Search: Voice Assistant Battle [Video]

Posted June 29, 2012 at 4:26pm by iClarified
TechnoBuffalo has posted a video comparison of the Siri and Google Search voice assistants.

Siri is how Apple persuades consumers to buy the iPhone 4S, and in iOS 6, the voice assistant promises to get a whole lot better. But before the new and improved Siri arrives, Google is unleashing an upgrade to its search that, well, blows Apple's tech right out of the water. Built from the ground up in the new Android Jelly Bean update, the new search engine accepts and answers questions with aplomb. When we first booted it up and gave it a go, it seriously blew us away with how quick it returned results, and the technology's voice is much more fluid than Siri's robotic pipes. We pitted the two against each other to see just how great Google's enhanced search is, and why Apple's new Siri may already be behind before she even arrives.

Take a look below...

this review makes no sense, all he is doing is testing the server's speed and the phones processing speed in my opinion, not the quality of the assistant. how many iphones have siri queries occurring vs google handling jellybean requests? as a personal assistant i actually need it to complete operations such as setting up an appointment by voice. when he asked for a reminder to be setup the android phone just opened up an app and requiring you to fill in fields. i definitely have to hand it to google for the image search though. i really hate that siri asks you if you want to search the web when you specifically request for a search. this reviewer is obviously biased... very disappointing, i hope to see a fair review by someone soon. he barely touches on the concept of assistance like sending sms, emailing, reserving a table at a restaurant, and such.

Are you dating/banging your phone or using it for its functionality?

This is a known issue. The problem is that Siri relies on a network to interpret the requests, which take time. Building a bunch of preexisting answers into the app makes it much faster, but isn't a fair comparison. What Apple needs to do is to separate complex questions from simple ones, and move the simple ones into some automatic answers. The real question is which is better at interpreting spoken language (recording spoken documents).

if someone builds the voice interpretation into the software to make it faster that's just a better design decision, it doesn't make it an unfair comparison.. "google voice search should have to be shitter to make it a fair comparison with Siri", what kind of logic is that..

You know, every single time that any other company brings out something that apple already has they immediately do all these comparisons on how much these new things are better then Apple ones. Yet still apple is on top. They slowly faint in to the shadows of electronic junk. Just saying that what matters is customer satisfaction and well my friends the is what apple is about. I buy an iPhone for way more important things then Siri. Number 1 reason is customer service then followed by craftsmanship and just the fact that I'm used to it. Who gives a crap if Siri is worst then google? Does they make my iPhone crap?

Finally someone who gets it. Apple is top class. You never go wrong with Apple. These devices like the nexus q fade away where when apple releases a product it doesn't fade as fast. The iPhone 2g is still a great product.

Isn't the nexus a "4" G device and probably connected to said "4" network whilst the 4S is 3.5g...?

Siri has never a answered a single of my questions, looks like it has only been made for the yanks. Hopefully Google will be better.
