Next Generation iMac Will Not Have Retina Display?

Next Generation iMac Will Not Have Retina Display?

Posted June 23, 2012 at 12:09am by iClarified
Instapaper developer Marco Arment reports that an iMac update is coming but it will not have a Retina Display.

Arment posted on his blog today predicting that the new iMac would in fact have a Retina Display; however, after his post he heard from various sources that his prediction was incorrect.

I've now heard from multiple sources that while an iMac update is indeed coming this fall, it will not have Retina displays. Oops. Can't win 'em all.

Although Apple hasn't directly confirmed it will update the iMac this year, it did respond to outrage over the lack of a real Mac Pro update revealing that the model will see a refresh next year.

You must be new. We can speculate on our own. "Apple may release new products in 2012?" how did they think of this. Crazy

Why don't you post "next gen iMac will have retina display?" and mix it up a bit because either way you have no idea and your sources are shit. Start posting stuff from the tabloids too, cause that's real news?

Maybe an iMac for 4k video editing on full screen at full resolution will be nice.

Lol, yah I think we are a few years off from a 27" retina display.

The existing native resolutions of iMacs are already pretty impressive - 1920x1080 for the 21.5in model and a whopping 2560x1440 for the 27in model which to me is near the "Retina" specs of 2880x1800. That's 320x360 pixels only and I dont think your eyes will even be able to tell the difference. In addition, you can even bump up the resolution of the 27in model to 2560x1600 if you connect it to an external display. Lastly, putting a Retina on the iMac will make it very expensive. Think about it - MB Pros with Retina displays already cost $400-$600 more than regular MB Pros for 15inches of screen estate - how much more do you think will it be if you're getting 21.5 or 27 inches?
