IGG Software announces the release of Spoilage, its first handheld game product. The game is available exclusively via download from Apple's App Store for use on iPhones and the iPod Touch.

Spoilage is an addictive game with subtle, chess-like strategy and basic, checkers-like moves. A single game can be played in just minutes, so you never need a large time commitment. While Spoilage is deceptively simple at first, it soon proves surprisingly tricky. Multiple levels of difficulty, different boards and randomly selected layouts provide for endless hours of engagement and entertainment.

As the player, you assume the role of a bacteria colony battling for resources. You can replicate yourself, but not move far, or travel a greater distance while leaving precious spaces susceptible to invasion by other colonies. Attacking the enemy colony gains you resources and your population immediately expands. But as your colony grows, it becomes increasingly susceptible to exploitation by your competitor. Do you have what it takes to masterfully command a bacteria colony and take over the ooze world?

The game's creator, James Gillespie, recently joined IGG after more than a dozen years in Mac development with a major West Coast software publisher. "I brought the game to IGG as something I had begun working on for fun," says Gillespie. "Ultimately I was trying to create something you could play if you only had a few minutes to kill, but that would still be challenging if you'd already played it a million times.

"While this doesn't represent a shift in direction or priorities for IGG, it's already had the advantage of giving us some experience in working with the App Store," adds Gillespie. "As software developers, we think the potential there is tremendous."

Pricing and Availability:
Spoilage is only $2.99 (USD) and available exclusively through Apple's App Store.
