WWDC 2012 may bring the biggest simultaneous launch of new Macs in Apple history, according to a new report from 9to5Mac.
It's widely expected that Apple will debut iOS 6 and unveil a new thinner MacBook Pro at WWDC; however, the site is not hearing that this may just be the tip of the iceberg for updates.
According to sources, Apple is planning to update at least four out of their five Mac lines at the June 11 WWDC kickoff keynote. Apple's current Mac lines are the MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, iMac, Mac mini, and Mac Pro. We are hearing that Apple will release two configurations of the redesigned 15-inch MacBook Pro, but it is unclear what will happen to the other MacBook Pro screen sizes.
The source also expects Retina Display MacBook Airs and a refresh to the iMac which may or may not bring a Retina Display.
This leaves either the Mac Mini or Mac Pro as the fourth line to see an update. It's unclear which will be refreshed; however, the Mac Pro is in desperate need of a update. It's last release was in 2010. However, lack of attention to the Pro desktop for the past few years suggests that Apple may be discontinuing the device.
Finally, their source also believes Apple will use WWDC to launch some new accessories.
These accessories may range from new cases or cables, all the way to refreshed keyboards, mice, trackpads, AirPorts, or something else altogether. We aren't yet able to specify which accessories will actually be updated, however.
It looks like the June 11th keynote at WWDC 2012 will be an interesting one. Stay tuned!
