WCDMA iPad 3 Gets Regulatory Approval in China?

MarketWatch reports that an Apple device compatible with China Unicom's mobile network has received a network access license from China's Telecommunication Equipment Certification Center.

The device, listed as "model number A1430" is compatible with the 3G standard wide band code division multiple access, or WCDMA. The language used by the regulator suggests the device is the new iPad, which has yet to launch in China. Vendors often begin selling new devices within weeks of network access licenses being granted.

In March, it was reported that China's Quality Certification Center had approved a Wi-Fi iPad model number A1416. With both models now approved, Apple could launch the device in China unless issues over the iPad trademark hold things up.
