MacBook Shipments Expected to Surge in June

Apple suppliers are expected to significantly raise their shipments of MacBooks in June, reaching a peak in July, coinciding with the announcement of a new generation notebook, reports DigiTimes.

The sources revealed that they stared supplying components the new MacBooks to Apple in March and order volumes increased in both April and May. The sources expect volumes to rise significantly in June and will continue rising in July.

The sources also cited IDC figures that Apple's portable PC shipments in 2011 were 12.79 million units, up 31% on year, and are forecast for on-year growth of 30-50% for 2012. Apple is expected to achieve shipments of 16.24-19.2 million notebooks in 2012.


A report released earlier today claims that MacBook Pro prototypes drop the optical drive, are thinner, have a Retina Display, and support USB 3.0.
