New Apple TV Teardown Reveals A5 Chip, 512 MB RAM, 8GB Flash Storage

A teardown of the new Apple TV by aicjofs at xmbc.org reveals a single-core A5 chip, 512 MB of RAM, and 8GB of flash storage.

The A5 package was identified as APL2498 and the RAM appears to be Hynix, H9TKNNN4K. A quick search of that part number reveals it be 512MB in size.

The flash storage looks like Toshiba THGVX1G6D2HL A07 which is 8GB in size, the same of amount of storage as the second generation device.

Other parts found include: SMSC LAN9730 USB to 10/100 ethernet, TXC Mm3v 27.00, TXC Mp3G 25.00.

Interestingly, the new Apple TV appears to have an second Wi-Fi antenna that the previous generation didn't have.
