A leaked screenshot from the Best Buy inventory system reveals that Sprint may soon carry the new LTE iPad.

Although these screenshots aren't always accurate, it's thought that perhaps Sprint's LTE network wasn't ready in time for the new iPad at launch and thus Apple delayed releasing its new device for Sprint until their network was up to par.
