Apple is preparing to disrupt the notebook space with radically redesigned MacBook Pros, according to AppleInsider.

People familiar with Apple's roadmap say the Cupertino-based company currently plans to exit 2012 having completed a top-to-bottom revamp of its notebooks lineup that will see new MacBook Pros adopt the same design traits that have made its MacBook Airs an increasingly popular choice among mobile consumers.

The new design is said to feature an ultra-thin unibody enclosure that drops the optical disk drive and traditional hard drive and instead offer solid-state drives, instant-on capabilities, and extended battery life.

"They're all going to look like MacBook Airs," said one person familiar with the designs.

A redesign to the MacBook Pro has been reported by numerous sources over the past year including Macotakara, MacRumors, and iLounge.
