Without Apple the mobile computing industry's revenue has been stagnant since 2007, according to Morgan Keegan analyst Tavis McCourt.

McCourt found that fourth quarter revenues of $71.4 billion in 2011 is about twice the $37.9 billion in 2007 revenues. Notably, without Apple, Q4 2011 revenues drop back down to 2007 levels.

"Apple is dominating the industry's pool of profits," says McCourt. "With about 11 percent of industry shipment volumes of smartphones and tablets, Apple generates about 47 percent of the industry's revenues, and over 80 percent of its operating profits."
