Foxconn is Planning to Build Five More Plants in Brazil

Foxconn is planning to build five more plants in Brazil, each employing around 1,000 workers, according to Julio Semeghini, Secretary of Planning and Development of the State of São Paulo.

Folha.com reports that negotiations are under way to determine the location of the factories that will produce notebooks and PCs, electronic components, connectors, batteries, and precision machine elements.

"We are waiting for chinese executives to return from New Year's hollidays to reengage negotiations," said Semeghini.

"Parts produced in Brazil will aid in assemble of Apple products" said the Secretary. For now the company will import those kits from China to assemble in Brazil."

Recently, it was announced that Brazil approved tax exemptions pertaining to tablet production that paves the way for Foxconn to start producing iPads in the country.
