Apple VP Roger Rosner is Heading Up New Digital Textbook Service

Apple VP Roger Rosner is heading up the company's digital textbook service which will be unveiled on Thursday, reports the WSJ.

According to people familiar with the matter, Mr. Rosner-Apple's vice president for productivity applications, in charge of its iWork document, spreadsheet and presentation software-is closely involved in developing the new digital-textbook service. Apple last week said it was holding an event in New York City on Thursday for an announcement, which people familiar with the matter have said will be around digital textbooks.

The WSJ expects the event to focus around the release of tools to build digital textbooks; rather than textbooks that exist today.

Earlier this week ArsTechnica predicted that Apple will release 'GarageBand for E-Books' though Fortune believes their claims are over-hyped.
