Jonathan Ive, Senior Vice President of Industrial Design at Apple, has been awarded knighthood in the New Year Honours list, reports BBC.
Ive has been made a Knight Commander of the British Empire and can now be referred to as Sir Jonathan. According to the report, he described the honour as "absolutely thrilling" and said he was "both humbled and sincerely grateful".
"I am keenly aware that I benefit from a wonderful tradition in the UK of designing and making", said Ive. "I discovered at an early age that all I've ever wanted to do is design."
Ive has received numerous other awards and recognitions for his work at Apple. In 2005, he was also recognized in the honour's list and made a Commander of the British Empire (CBE). In May 2009, he received an honorary doctorate from the Rhode Island School of Design and in June 2009 was named Honorary Doctor of the Royal College of Art.
