Next iPad to be Thicker But Still Support Smart Cover?

Macotakara is reporting that the next iPad will be thicker but still support the Smart Cover.

According to Asian supplier which provides part for next iPad, next iPad has same size of screen, but case may be thicker by unknown reason. Current iPad cases, which covers backside, will not be compatible with thicker next iPad.

Also the source told, front rounding corner will be same with current iPad, then Smart Cover will be good companion with new iPad.


A report from iLounge last month corroborates this prediction. The third-generation iPad will become modestly thicker (0.7mm) in order to accommodate the twin light bar system needed for its higher-resolution display However, Peter Misek at Jefferies & Co. believes that Apple has teamed up with Sharp to develop a new display that does not need the two light bar system. We believe that Apple and Sharp together have a modified IGZO (indium, gallium, zinc) technology to achieve 330 dpi, which is sufficient for an HD display while not using IPS nor having to include dual-bar LED backlighting.
