Apple reportedly had a completed 64-bit version of Final Cut Pro 8 but decided to kill it because it was evolutionary, reports FCP.co.

The site originally posted a video from the Television, Internet & Video Association of Washington DC (TIVA). It featured three panelists, Nicole Haddock, editor and the TIVA Chair, Richard Harrington, CEO of Rhed Pixel and Larry Engel, Filmmaker in Residence at American University.

In the video, Richard Harrington reveals, "There was a Final Cut 8 and it was 64bit and it was done and they looked at it and said 'This is not what we want to do, this is evolutionary, this is not revolutionary' and they killed it."

It's unclear if Harrington's information is accurate; however, the video has since been pulled which is often an indicator that the information is correct.

Video editors responded with outrage at Apple's release of Final Cut Pro X, a major and highly anticipated update to Apple's video editing software.
