Apple will reportedly offer three separate tablets in 2012: an iPad 3 HD, an iPad 2S, and a discounted iPad 2, according to analyst Ben A. Reitzes with Barclays Capital.
First, Reitzes believes that Apple will keep current iPad around at a discounted price.
Second, he suggests that Apple will release a faster iPad 2, perhaps dubbed the iPad 2S, that will keep the same resolution but offer a faster processor and Siri. This update would be similar to Apple's update from the iPhone 4 to the iPhone 4S.
Third, Reitzes thinks Apple will launch a fully redesigned iPad 3 in March. This device is said to feature a high resolution Retina Display, Siri integration, and an improved processor.
Recent rumors have Apple working with Sharp to create a modified IGZO display for the iPad 3 that will provide 330 dpi while not using IPS or having a dual-bar backlight.
