The New York Times has noted that Apple has begun to limit iPhone sales to customers. iPhones can no longer be purchased in cash and there is a limit of two phones per customer.

The new policy started Thursday, said Natalie Kerris, an Apple spokeswoman. Previously the limit was five iPhones per customer and of course you could use cash.

"Customer response to the iPhone has been off the charts, and limiting iPhone sales to two per customer helps us ensure that there are enough iPhones for people who are shopping for themselves or buying a gift," Ms. Kerris said. "We're requiring a credit or debit card for payment to discourage unauthorized resellers."

Apple estimates that around 250,000 iPhones has been sold to unlockers.

Currently there are two lawsuits against Apple charging that the iPhone being locked is illegal. This latest move is not going to help Apple's image and will most likely increase the number of lawsuits against the company.
