How to Enable Native iTunes 'Now Playing' Notifications

These are instructions on how to enable native iTunes 'Now Playing' notifications.

Step One
Launch Terminal from your Applications:Utilities folder.

Step Two
Input the following commands:


defaults write com.apple.dock itunes-notifications -bool TRUE
defaults write com.apple.dock notification-always-show-image -bool TRUE
killall Dock

How to Enable Native iTunes 'Now Playing' Notifications

Step Three
After your Dock has been restarted you will notice now playing notifications appear above the iTunes icon.

Removal
To remove notifications, input the following commands into the Terminal window:

defaults write com.apple.dock itunes-notifications -bool FALSE
defaults write com.apple.dock notification-always-show-image -bool FALSE
killall Dock

Why would you want to enable this function ? Whats the purpose for it? Can some1 explain what does it do ? Thanks ! I it was a stupid ?? but Id like 2 know..

makes it so when a song in itunes is playing, a small animation shows up with the song title

mine worked without the middle step, just did the first line and last line. got instructions from modmyi.

take it back. the second step adds the iTunes logo. My mistake.

This a stupid question..what is the purpose how enabling this feature?

it shows the song name and artist every time the song changes for about 5 seconds.

It should be noted that these commands only apple to OS 10.7 or newer.
