Since the iPhone 4S is a world phone, do you have to jailbreak and unlock to use for other international networks apart from AT&T,sprint and Verizon?

Will the new iPhone 4S support T-Mobiles 3G network? I'm tired of my slow edge speed on my i4 and Apple said its a world phone.

Been saying since the rumors started. Not going to be more than 1 phone. Never has been despite rumors saying otherwise. Not surprised at all. Iphone 5 will come out... Next june or next fall (they may change the release cycle to fall now). I wonder if people would care less if they called this an iphone 5? I like the looks of the 4 case. The 3GS case looks boring and old. The tear drop mockups were nice though and wouldn't surprise me to see that next year in the 5. Wished the 64gb was less but will still probably get that, sell my unlocked ip4 and very little difference left. Glad I didn't buy into the rumor mill hype

What's in a name. Everything it seems for some people. After a hard look at the hardware differences between the 4G and the 4GS I'd say we DID get what we though would be the iPhone 5. Just with a different name in a 4G case. Saying that it will be interesting to see what the official iPhone 5 will bring to the party apart from a speed bump and new case. Once the dust settles I think we might see this for what it is, A nice piece of kit with a nicer one around the corner when it's ready for it's release. Not before.

You are totally correct. Look at the specs, better cam, dual core CPU and GPU, world phone, 4g speeds and new OS along to boot. Aside from a new case and larger screen it really is a nice upgrade. And if you don't like it skip this version. Rumors are funny!!! LOL.

Lame!!!! In Asia they have 3D phones and the hardware are advanced to what we have here. For Apple being an innovating company, this is a step backwards...very disappointed!!

Actually there is a difference in the ability to perform hardware encryption for Exchange 2010 email between the IPhone 3G and the IPhone 3GS. All the users in the company I work in who are holding on to an IPhone 3G now have a choice of getting an IPhone 4 or IPhone 4S if their 3G are not working And they really really need the emails on the phone . I'm glad I got my apple care when I got my iPhone 4 last year. At least that keeps me covered till IPhone 5 comes out and my telco contract ends so I can upgrade without a penalty

You can buy iPhones unlocked at Apple Store by paying full price (ie $600+). They started doing that a few months ago after the CEO of AT&T was publically embarrassed because he "thought" they did already.

That's for iphone 4. Is iphone 4S the same too?
Baxter
Baxter - October 5, 2011 at 5:54pm
No reason why it shouldn't be. You'd be paying full price for the phone so there's no need for a contract to subsidize it.

They did release an 'iphone 5". It's a new phone with new features and just happens to be named the iphone 4S. They did the same thing with the 3GS, and nobody was complaing about that one not being sold under the name 'iphone 4'. Apple never said it was going to be called the iphone 5.
