A photo has been leaked online that reportedly depicts Wintek manufacturing a iPhone 5 touchscreen with an elongated home button.

M.I.C. Gadget writes, "You may ask, how do we know these are Wintek workers? Well, someone replied to the original tweet on Sina Microblog, saying that this pic should be taken in the Wintek's touchscreen plant. We believe that, since Foxconn will not ever leak a pic like this. We are not 100% sure this pic is taken in Wintek, but at least we can tell you that it's not from Foxconn. Anyway, it looks like the next iPhone will be very interesting… Just imagine - gesture home button."

The photo was first posted on Sina Microblog (China's Twitter-style service) and reprinted yesterday by 9to5Mac. An elongated home button, possibly for gestures, has been rumored for some time. Recently, case diagrams posted to MobilePhone.co.uk also showed a home button area with an ovaloid shape.

We're aren't sure if this is an elongated home button or a circular one with a sticker next to it. Take a careful look and let us know what you think in the comments.

After doing some homework, I can confirm this is a replica iPhone 4 screen. I have a few screens as I do a couple of repairs for friends etc. what is fishy right away, why show a close up the screens in the middle? The reason, because it's more blurred and makes the home button and sticker blend together to look oblong etc. if you zoom at the bottom picture, you can clearly see the round home button and the stickers placed roughly ontop. Also the connector on the digitizer is the exact same as the iphone4. Also the frame attached is the same, meaning any rumours of a thinner iphone5 are out the window. Finally people saying the screen is wider, taking the perspective of surrounding items, the photo is simply stretched a little, pheeww!!!

I did some amateur calculations (because I didn't have the best tools), and I am pretty convinced this screen is wider than the iPhone 4 screen. I could totally be wrong as I said I am not very well equipped with the information I really needed. For example, I had to guess the length of the table based on other industrial tables, etc. Also I don't know the exact angle the picture was taken from. But from some educated guesses we can at least say it is possible that the picture is actually showing a screen wider than the iPhone 4s. Anyone else who knows a bit of what I was attempting to do with limited resources and information please join in and see if you can verify/debunk my conclusion.

To my eye it looks like the touchscreen is upside down. You can see the connector for the digitizer overlaps the glass. That makes the "elongated home button" the backside of the home button, likely held in place during fabrication, but in any event it has to have an assembly bigger than the hole for the home button on the front, and can't overlap the display or go off the glass. So it seems logical it is elongated in just that way. The reason for the cleanroom "lite" attire and accouterments is the LCD is optically bonded to the touchscreen. This gives about a 20 to 25% boost in apparent brightness for a given backlight level. So sunlight readable uses less power as there are fewer internal reflections. Simple.

The big question is .. Why they are wearing masks and gloves ?? Is it contagious? Haha Just kidding :P The screen looks a little bigger, But I'm not found of the new Home button shape, I don't know It feels a little bit over shaped in my opinion.
