Apple may be planning to phase out the entry level white 13-inch MacBook this year, according to Ming-Chi Kuo of Concord Securities.
AppleInsider reports that Kuo's industry checks show that Apple's internal shipment forecast for the white MacBook suspiciously drops-off in August of this year, which leads him to believe that the notebook may go "end of life" around the same time.
Monthly shipments for the Core 2 Duo MacBook have fallen to less than 100,000 and comprise of less than 10% of Apple's total Mac shipments. Kuo suggests a $999 MacBookAir would be a suitable replacement.
Apple last updated the White MacBook on May 18th, 2010.
