A former Apple executive has reportedly leaked information about Apple's next big product launch, an Apple Television.
"You'll go into an Apple retail store and be able to walk out with a TV. It's perfect."
According to DailyTech, the executive told them that Apple is teaming up with a major OEM to sell an iOS powered, Apple branded display.
According to source Apple plans to "blow Netflix and all those other guys away" by bundling Apple TV + iTunes inside physical television sets. According to the source Apple is teaming up with a major supplier (our guess would be Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.), to provide the physical televisions, which will be rebranded as Apple television sets.
When asked why an OEM would allow Apple to cut into their bottom line, the source stated, "If you have to be competing with somebody, you want to be competing with yourself."
An Apple Television has been predicted by analysts for a very long time; however, very little evidence has been found to support an imminent release of such a device. Recently, an Apple job posting revealed that the company is looking for someone to work on the next-generation power supply technology for a television and Gene Munster predicted one would be released in CY12.
DailyTech's source predicts a fall launch but says it could be delayed due to Apple's "high standards".
