Apple is Likely to Reach Agreement With Music Publishers

There is little that divides Apple and Music Publishers from reaching an agreement on Apple's upcoming cloud music service, according to CNET.

Negotiations between Apple and music publishers have begun in earnest only recently but the amount of money that separates the two sides from reaching a deal is relatively small, according to two sources with knowledge of the talks. That said, these are cloud-licensing contracts, which are new and complex and there are still several ways Apple's service could be delayed, insiders say.

Apple has reportedly signed agreements with three out of the four major record labels. The last one, Universal, is expected to ink a deal this week. Even after signing all four record labels a deal with the Music Publishers must be in place for Apple to launch its service.
