Cleversome has announced the release of 3do 1.0.0, their new 3d reminders app for iPhone and iPod touch. In 3do, tasks/reminders are represented with 4 faced cubes in a 3d perspective, with specific controls for reminders on each face. Users can rotate the cubes to interact with different aspects of setting a reminder, thus eliminating the need to navigate to extra screens, known as Drill Downs. 3do also offers some exclusive features and design in its category of reminder apps and according to its creators aims to start the next generation of reminder apps. 3do complies with iPhone and iPod touch with software version 4.0 and above, supports 11 languages besides English and is available in the iTunes App Store as of May 19th, 2011 for the price of $4.99 (USD).
"We really love taking things apart and building them from scratch, the right way", says Elazar Yifrach, Co-Founder and developer at Cleversome Ltd. "The first thing we wanted to achieve with this app is to create the most fluid, fun and efficient experience we can with reminders. We felt there is a huge shortage of these aspects in currently available reminder apps, as if the role of these apps stopped at the point where they enabled users to setup one, on-time reminder and forget about it until it pops up on their screen. On top of it, we did a lot of extra work on a truly unique interface, one that doesn't introduce any Drill Downs when you create a reminder and lets you get back to your business as fast as possible".
Among 3do's exclusive features is a multiple notification handling screen - where you can handle several alarms that fired all on the same time, one by one. Another interesting feature is the option to specify Availability times and default alarm sets, and let 3do automatically use these settings when you create a new task. When viewing a last of two pre-alarms for a task, a snoozing mechanism offers options to fire the alarm again in a few minutes or hours, or mark the task for this alarm as done.
Alerts in 3do display a text similar to the Calendar app on iPhone, with terms like Today and Tomorrow, thus leveraging reminders to a more time-management oriented experience. No Save or Edit screens are used in 3do, and interaction is based on the concept that last changes always apply. 3do uses iOS' Local-Notifications mechanism and requires no Internet connectivity to work.
Regarding future plans for 3do, Cleversome say that they have already included foundations for cloud syncing and making the app universal in this release, and that they are planning to release an update with these features in the future.
