Yesterday, Apple officially launched the iPad 2 in China bringing six Wi-Fi capable models to the country for the first time. MIC Gadget has provided photos of the event which show long lines as hundreds waited for the doors to open at 8:00 AM. Stock ran out quickly with some stores selling out in less than four hours.
Apple also ran sales via its online store in China with shipping estimates of 1-2 weeks. However that time quickly turned to "no supply."
Pricing is about 15% higher than the United States version with 16GB models starting at $568. Currently Apple has four retail stores in China but plans on opening many more in the next year.
