iFixIt has released an iPhone 4 rear panel that lets you give your device a transparent mod for only $29.95.
At this time, you can only install this product in the GSM iPhone 4. We have nothing against the Verizon users; Apple chose to modify the rear panel layout for the Verizon version, and sadly our panel can only fit GSM iPhone 4 units.
You can even go the extra mile and remove the EMI shielding from your logic board as a means to show off your iPhone 4 even more, although we don’t recommend you do this. It looks pretty dang spiffy without the EMI shielding, but that might cause the phone to operate improperly.
The iFixIt panel is made of plastic meaning its less prone to fracture and far cheaper to replace than the glass one.
You guys ordering this are getting ripped off. I've had my transparent housing for two weeks and it cost me $8. Not only that I have the apple logo and the other prints just like the black original. And my housing is not plastic but glass like the original. I also have transparent with white trimming instead of black. Other colors include gold, silver, white, and mirror. All with logo and prints like original and made of glass. Each costing $8. Anyone call me out on this and I will post pics.
How would posting pics of your iPhone prove that you only paid $8 for the case? Until you post the link to where you purchased it from I claim fake. I have been doing transparent housing for months now on craigslist and the cost has always been $25-$30
Ebay has one for 21.95 comes in silver and black, free shipping 2 days. It actually has silver apple logo and patent printed on the back, looks pretty dope. This is expensive with no logo and label.
Just as an FYI for everyone and for iClarified to update the article I received this email on ordering (Yes I ordered, I'd rather give these guys my business because of the good work they do with videos and stuff, plus I had some small stuff to buy and being international, I figured I might as well).
"Thanks for your purchase of a transparent iPhone rear panel. Before we ship it out to you we wanted to let you know that we made a mistake and said it was made of plastic instead of glass. The truth is that the panels are actually made of glass and not of plastic like we listed on the product page and the blog. We understand that one of the reasons you may have bought this product was because it was supposedly made of plastic."
So I think it's worth its price a bit more now since it's glass instead of cheap plastic.
Those back pieces cost $8-$10 just go to wholesaler web pages. Even eBay should have many for less. I had the whole front clear assembly and rear assembly for about 2 months already
