Apple Investigated By South Korea, France, Germany, Italy Over iPhone Tracking

Apple is being investigated by South Korea, France, Germany, and Italy over a recent report that it secretly stores a complete location history of iPhone users, according to Bloomberg.

The Korea Communications Commission asked Apple how often information is collected and saved, and whether users have a choice over whether it is saved or deleted, the commission said in an e-mailed statement today. Apple must explain why such data is saved on devices and if it’s stored on the company’s servers.

South Korea is the most recent country to join the list of those investigating Apple for the practice. In the U.S. Senator Al Franken has penned an open letter to Steve Jobs asking for answers regarding the situation.

I don't give a s_it if they tracking me or not, I'm not a criminal or something. It's like "f_ck, the ISP issue an IP address to my modem and they know who am I and what web sites I browse.." Do you really have something to hide? If so, then I would like that feds checked your house before you wake up next morning to be sure everybody around you is safe. These people just wanted to show up on the Net, that's it.

and? obviously it stores data, and knows where you are, you have gps and always pressing "yes" to allow application to use your position, so why wondering? big deal, they can triangulate your position even if you don't have gps. so if you have concerns regarding your position tracking, or you're spy or something - dont use smartphone or any phone at all!

why do they? (kidding) I'm surprised the focus is only on Apple when there have been numerous articles that Google Android doing the same. My concern with this type of practice is does this information leave your phone. I would not be suprised that governments in the back-room somewhere would request to have this data sent to them in the future directly, but make sure its encrypted and nobody can find out about it. Governments can be good, but lately if you look around you see that the governments are not there to serve people but how to screw them and make them ask for more.
