Apple to Only Invest in Toshiba Plant For LCD Production?

Apple will only be investing in a new Toshiba LCD production facility abandoning its plans to also invest in a Sharp facility, according to Japanese newspaper Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun.

The Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun reported that Apple now plans to invest only in Toshiba's new LCD panel plant currently under construction in Ishikawa Prefecture, central Japan. The report said that Sharp was no longer a candidate for Apple's investment.

Late last year it was rumored that Apple would invest about Y100 billion on each plant.


Sharp said in a statement released Wednesday that the Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun report "contradicts the facts."
