Apple has increased the power output of the USB ports in its new MacBook Pros which results in a much faster charge for the iPad, according to 9to5Mac.
The new MacBook Pro offers a combined 2100 mA of power; similar to what you'd get from an iPad wall charger.
The previous generation MacBook Pros only offer a combined 1000mA of power; taking far longer to charge the device.
AppAdvice estimates the new MacBook Pro can charge the iPad to 80% in 3 hours; whereas the previous generation would take 7 hours.
