Left Coast Logic last week released SmartNotes 2, the iPad version of their creative Notes app that hit #1 on the app store last year. The new version runs on both iPad and iPhone, and can share Notes (with voice and photo attachments) between iPhones and iPads. SmartNotes 2 is the second in a trio of productivity apps the company has made for iPad - including SmartPad2, which last week was the top selling iPad task and calendar manager.

Introducing the Left Coast Cloud server:
The biggest new feature is the ability to synchronize all data - including photo and voice attachments - between any devices that share the same account: SmartNotes on two or more iPhones, and on iPad as well. This is accomplished via the new Left Coast Cloud server. Accounts are free. This means that people can share SmartNotes data with a friend or co-worker, or share between SmartNotes on an iPhone and on an iPad.

"The Left Coast Cloud is the first step in a strategy to make all of our productivity apps available to the entire world via the internet," said Left Coast Logic co-founder Michael Jardine. "A SmartNotes web version is the next step; look for that in the very near future."

Other Key Features:
The most unique feature of SmartNotes is how it enables users to intuitively create new notes, to-do's, voice notes, and photo attachments all as 3D "stickies" - then group them by dragging them on top of each other. "This helps you to very quickly organize your thoughts into common areas," said James Reynolds, co-founder and creator of SmartNotes. The app also integrates with the iPhone and iPad address book and with Google Maps. Individual notes can be emailed to anyone. For personalization, it offers a variety of font styles and sizes, creative backgrounds, and skins.

Productivity Suite for iPad:
SmartNotes 2 is the "front end" of the company's new Productivity Suite for iPad. The core is SmartPad 2, an integrated task manager and calendar released last week and which quickly claimed the #1 position in that category. A third app, SmartPlans, is a project planner with interactive Gantt charts that will be released later this month.

Pricing and Availability:
SmartNotes 2.0 is $9.99 USD (or equivalent amount in other currencies) and available worldwide exclusively through the App Store in the Business category.
