Reports of iPad 2 Freezing While Using FaceTime

Posted March 23, 2011 at 2:50pm by iClarified
Some users have reported freezing issues with FaceTime video chat on their iPad 2, requiring a restart of the device, according to an AppleInsider report.

Several threads on the Apple support forums describe a problem where the image displayed by the front camera on the iPad 2 crashes. A reboot is usually required to fix the issue.

"It happens quite frequently," said user leov36. "Restarting the ipad fixes the problem, BUT, it happens again with in the next two to three times i go to use it."

"When I opened up FaceTime the first time, the camera was working fine, but now whenever I open it up, it just shows a still image from when I left," user "CRK The Man" wrote. "How can I fix it?"

Another users (dels7080) notes that the manager of the 68th St NYC Verizon store said it has happened to a lot of his floor units as well. So far we haven't experienced the issue with our unit; however, let us know if your experience differs.

I had 1 (ONLY 1) crash, so maybe an anomaly. I'm using an iPhone 4 running iOS 4.3.

I'm getting that same problem on my iphone 4. At times I open up FaceTime and surprised to see a still image of my last video chat. It often require that I restart my device..! I was hoping they'd fix this in fw4.3.1

Here's something I noticed right away when looking at the picture. The Black guy has the BLACK iPad while the lighter skin girl has the WHITE iPad. Coincidence?

No it's the other way around since the black guy is watching the girl on his white iPad ;)

i have a quick fix for that guys . 1 when this happens dont get mad. 2 run some luke warm water with a tad of table salt in the water stir the water in the sink until salt is disolved. 3 have a facetime chat open and in progress when and if it freezes just lightly dip the ipad adn submerge it under the warm salty water.what this will do is since water conducts eletric current very well this will complete the circuit and give more power to facetime ur face will look better the sound wll sound as if it was coming from a pair of BOSE speakers hope this helps

Hahaha ;-D I think I will have to try this on all my electrical equipment! But, I will try it out in a bathtub! Much bigger than a sink, and I can take a bath as well!
