Gas Main Explosion Caught on Video Using iPhone 4, Edited With iPad 2 [Video]

Robert Stephens, founder of the Geek Squad, captured a Minneapolis gas main explosion on video with his iPhone 4, quickly edited it with iMovie on the iPad 2, and posted it for media use, according to TwinCities.

Stephens drove towards the explosion and shot video of it with his iPhone. He then rushed to a drug-store parking lot where he transferred the video to his iPad and edited it with the new tablet version of Apple's iMovie app.

Finally, he uploaded it to YouTube and iReport, a Cable News Network service set up to accept such citizen-journo submissions. Before long, his video had been woven into CNN and MSNBC coverage.

"I'm not a journalist, but I was quickly working with major news organizations," Stephens said. "That's why I tweeted permission."
