Geohot has set up a new blog and is asking for help in his legal battle with Sony.

Media, I need your help. This is the first time I have ever asked. Please, if you support this cause, help me out and spread the word.

I want, by the time this goes to trial, to have Sony facing some of the hardest hitting lawyers in the business.

Together, we can help fix the system

Sony is suing Geohot and fail0verflow for jailbreaking the PS3 console. This is a case that could have huge ramifications for consumer rights. The EFF says, "Sony's core arguments — that it can silence speech that reveals security flaws using the DMCA and that the mere fact of a terms of use somewhere gives a company permanent and total control over what you do with a device under pain of criminal punishment — are both sweeping and frightening, and not just for gamers and computer researchers. Frankly, it's not what we expect from any company that cares about its customers, and we bet it's not what those customers expect, either."

The Library of Congress Copyright Office has ruled that smartphone jailbreaking was legal but they have not as of yet made the same ruling for game consoles. Geohot has helped many in the iPhone community with his jailbreaks. We urge you to donate towards the cause. Hey, we can boycott $ony's Facebook page if enough people REPORT THIS PAGE and select CONTAINS HATE SPEECH OR ATTACKS INDIVIDUAL (which is true!) - finally select TARGETS ME OR A FRIEND. That should give a great surprise! :D

Sony is big corp should act like a big corp not a childish corp. Also remember the word APPRECIATATION!!!! Money dont mean anything ok sony you should know without us you guy not even here! Please build up a better server and system security so person like geohot can't do anything. You know how many people outsmart geohot,many. Most important please act like a big corp and put confident in ur product so we the consumer do the same too. Not act like baby cry and whining all the time.

Everyone, who has used the service of Gehot has to help him with donation . Even if 5 USD will be donate to him, is good. And at least, Sony has no chance in the court case against Gehot. The reason is very simple : The legal owner of a sony playstation has the right to change the software of his legal owned playstation for his specific use . As long he is not selling officially for commerce matters to a third party .

Geohot jail bait u need to go geohot.com and read what geohot say. let me put this way, Geohot say all the money leftover from the fight will donate to the EFF. EFF is a similiary/different to wikileak where it leak all the Corp secret.

Geohot stoped to do iPhone jailbreak and come back because he thought he is the only one who can do it now with ps3 listen Geohot go and find proper job and bring some useful stuf for this planet not this ps3 jailbreak way you don't make some perfect console on your own and allow people to do what they want to do

Man someone with deep pockets and a competition with sony lime MICROSOFT *wink wink* should step in and allow geohot to use their corporate lawyers to do battle and help him out. They supposedly jumped at the chance to give him a phone to see what could be done with it. why not help him shut up sony?

I did the same: $ 500 went to Geohot. Come on guys, if we dont fight Sony now, we never will have a chance again to live todays freedom. Cant someone organize a boycott of Sony products voa Facebook. See the Nestle case? By the way, $ 5 is just 2 double Expressos at Starbucks, so?

A lot of negative complaints here whining that Geohot ruined their game! Geohot has just given people the ability to use the console they paid for the way they want to use it. Not the way Sony want you to use it. Geohot has opened the door, what people do once they've walked through the door (pirating games, hacking games) is not Geohots fault or responsibility. $20 from me and good luck killing Goliath

$5 to geohot, not because I like him or not, but because I believe Sony is going to open pandora's box if they win, think about it! What's next? In the past until now, you bought something it was yours -100%- I like that concept, I believe in respecting ownership of property. Sony needs to target bootleggers, jailbreaking might be a path to provide access for them, but so is a gun store by selling guns and bullets to people, still not everybody goes Laughner or Manson on others... Screw Sony, I'm not buying anything knowingly branded Sony.

To all the peep that keep complaining about jailbreak and unclock for iPhone all the time, why don't you all consider give a little contribution back to help out the people whom brought you the freedom to your iPhone. Without them and geohot, you won't have the current jailbreak for all iDevice. Just imagine if he would have lost the case. What would happen to your iDevice now? And whom gonna be in control of your idevice? You or the manufacture

One of the main benefits of the EULA is to ensure an income for software developers both large and small. I 100% garantee that every single person who donates to Geohot uses pirated movies,music and software.

Good to the earth, good to each other, information shared for free for the betterment of society is the necessary revolution and holding on to old patterns because they are familiar is stupid. Home taping did not kill music it made it better, more viral, shared, most artists and software developers i know love for their work to be shared, enjoyed, acts like radiohead have reinvented the album release and that's what we need in the other dieing economies of physical shit. We are close and supporting geohot here is VERY important, he is a genius, not a criminal or a "Terrorist" sony should embrace him,it's out now, sony can't get it un-shared so why sue? bitterness? Look at their profits they're huge, and they're trying to get the legal right to protect them, their profits, we already pay a levy on digital media..what next? it's SCARY.
