The FBI has laid charges against two men who obtained the email addresses of 120,000 iPad owners from AT&T's servers, according to Reuters.

U.S. prosecutors filed criminal charges against two people accused of stealing the email addresses and other personal data of about 120,000 users of Apple Inc's (AAPL.O) iPad tablet computer.

Daniel Spitler and Andrew Auernheimer were each charged with one count of fraud and one count of conspiracy to access a computer without authorization, prosecutors said.

They obtained the data through a script on AT&T's website which returned an email address when provided with an ICC-ID as part of an HTTP request. By looking at known iPad 3G ICC IDs the group was able to guess a large number of ids.

Its unclear how successful the prosecution will be as these men obtained information publicly available to anyone due to an oversight on AT&T's part.
