Houdah Software has announced the immediate availability of Chord Board 1.0 for iPhone and iPod touch.

When Martin Samuel, inventor of the original Chord Board, contacted Houdah Software, Pierre Bernard was immediately sold on the idea of re-creating the Chord Board as an iPhone application. Over the following weeks, Martin and Pierre worked on both sides of the Atlantic ocean to perfect the common product. Without ever meeting, both spent countless hours turning an idea originally meant to be made of cardboard into a modern application. Here is proof that good ideas survive technology changes. Proof that people of different backgrounds can meet to create what neither of them could have done alone. Proof that friendships can build without ever meeting. Proof of the impact the Internet makes on our capabilities to communicate and thus innovate.

The Chord Board is a slide rule that displays the notes necessary to form chords. More than a chord dictionary - a means of reference for musicians, singers, songwriters, choirs, composers and arrangers - and a convenient teaching/learning tool used by teachers and students of music at all levels.

The multi-colored chart is a 2-octave piano keyboard with numbered note positions, and a center slide that displays the notes. A chord consists of 3 or more notes. To find the notes necessary to form a chord, move the centre slide so the root note (1st note of the chord) is opposite 1 ... for major chords, refer to the upper (color-coded) section and for minor chords, the lower section.

After constructing chords, rotate your iOS device to the the chords menu in portrait mode. Here you may play the chords in the selected key.

Feature Highlights:
* Landscape view: the original Chord Board slide rule
* Portrait view: overview of the chords of a given key
* Build chords using the slide rule
* Transpose chords using the slide rule
* Play chords from the vertical chord menu

Pricing and Availability:
Chord Board 1.0 is only $0.99 USD (or equivalent amount in other currencies) and available worldwide exclusively through the App Store in the Music category.
