Tales2Go 2.0 Released

Tales2Go has released Tales2Go v2.0, an update to its Parents' Choice Award-winning kids' audio story subscription service for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad users. Version 2.0 offers significant product enhancements, including limited caching of one story or chapter; a sharing feature that lets users email story links to friends and family; and iPhone iOS 4 multitasking, allowing users to play stories in the background while activating other applications.

As part of the new release, Tales2Go is also introducing new, flexible pricing plans. In addition to annual subscriptions, the company is now offering monthly and quarterly pricing options, as well as the ability to register and use up to five devices per account/subscription.

"Many of these enhancements have come at the request of Tales2Go's current users," said William Weil, Co-Founder and CEO of Tales2Go. "Not only have we improved the product, but we are also offering new pricing plans that allow users to enjoy Tales2Go on a one-off basis. For example, now users will be able to purchase a one-month subscription for just $2.99, which might come in handy on a specific car trip or vacation. In addition, every user will now be able to register up to five devices per account/subscription, which is sure to be popular with families that own multiple Apple devices."


With caching on Version 2.0, users now have the ability to stream a story or chapter to a device, and then, via a buffering indicator, see that it has been temporarily stored on the device. This feature allows the user to finish listening to a story or chapter beyond a WiFi or carrier signal area. Initially, limited caching will only work with one story or chapter, however plans are underway to develop a more comprehensive caching function. The new Tales2Go sharing feature lets users send emails to friends and family with links to a particular story recommendation, launched from within the player. Finally, Version 2.0 adds the popular multitasking feature introduced as part of the iPhone iOS 4 operating system, making the Tales2Go application even easier to use on the go.

Tales2Go is a first-of-its kind subscription kids' story app that gives parents and caregivers instant, on-demand and unlimited access to over 1,200 stories from leading audio publishers (such as Scholastic and Recorded Books) and award-winning storytellers (such as Bill Harley, Donald Davis and Heather Forest). Stories range from fairytales to classics (such as Curious George Rides a Bike) to popular series and characters (such as Diary of a Wimpy Kid).

Tales2Go is powered by streaming technology from Stitcher Radio, the leading news/talk audio app on smartphones.
