The US App Store has passed the quarter million milestone, according to 148Apps.biz data. Fortune notes that the store reached this number two years and 49 days after it opened.

Royal Pingdom recently used data from 148Apps and AndroLib to determine that 70% of the apps on the App Store are paid; whereas, 64% of the apps on the Android Marketplace are free.
