ChatGPT Adds iCloud Mail and Calendar Support

OpenAI has added iCloud Mail and Calendar plugins to ChatGPT, letting users find emails, catch up on their inbox, check their schedule, and update calendar events. The integrations are available on all ChatGPT plans across the web, desktop, and iOS.

The two services can work together in a single request. In OpenAI's demonstration, a user asks ChatGPT to find a museum event that fits their free time. The assistant searches email for exhibit details, checks the calendar, and adds a Museum Night event to an open evening.

The connections are specific to iCloud, rather than blanket access to Apple's Mail and Calendar apps. A Gmail or Outlook account added to the iPhone's Mail app would still need its own connection.

To get started, open Plugins in ChatGPT, find iCloud Mail or iCloud Calendar, and follow the connection prompts. They are separate plugins, so users can choose the service they want to connect. Review the requested access before authorizing the connection.

The additions follow the Apple Messages plugin for ChatGPT on Mac, which works through the Messages app in ChatGPT Work and Codex. That integration is Mac-only; the new iCloud connections also work on the web and iOS.
